SIMON KASSELL - SOLICITOR
Simon is a solicitor and the Senior Partner. He graduated from Trent Polytechnic, now Nottingham Trent University in 1979 and qualified as a solicitor in 1983.
Simon started out in general practice and has always worked in the Erewash Valley. He joined the firm in 1989 to open and run the Ilkeston office and has practised from 129 Bath Street since then.
Simon specialises in conveyancing both residential and commercial: but also has considerable experience in wills and probate. Simon has worked alongside returning clients for some 30 years and takes pride from the fact that he now sees the children from established clients as families have come to depend upon his considerable experience and breadth of knowledge within his field.
Simon works hard for each individual client to ensure that they fully understand the process, the implications of their transaction and to ensure any pitfalls are avoided.
ROBERT BEVAN - SOLICITOR
Rob Bevan is a Solicitor and Partner in Maclaren Warner. He qualified as a Solicitor in 1988 and has been with the firm for over 30 years.
Rob represents clients in relation to dispute resolution/litigation matters and in relation to family law matters.
In dispute resolution matters, he typically represents clients dealing with landlord and tenant issues (including all aspects of possession proceedings), property disputes, building disputes and financial claims in the County Court and High Court.
In family law matters, he has many years’ experience of advising in divorce cases, including financial settlements and arrangements for children. He acts also on behalf of civil partners and unmarried clients in relation to financial issues and children matters.
Rob is a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Panel, and a member of Resolution (formerly Solicitors Family Law Association). He strives to ensure that the firm’s approach is to give constructive and cost effective advice and support, and to promote negotiated or mediated settlements whenever possible.
LINDA KASSELL - SOLICITOR
Linda Kassell is a solicitor and a partner in Maclaren Warner, married to Simon. Linda graduated from Hull University in 1987 and following a training contract in general practice with a Nottingham Firm qualified in 1990.
Upon qualifying, Linda embarked on a career in child protection, working within the Local Authority.
Linda worked in this field for some 16 years, pursuing an area of law that had been of interest since University.
In 2013, Linda took a break from the Local Authority and found herself back in Private Practice to help the family firm with compliance matters.
As Linda became more involved with the firm, interest in areas of law undertaken during training was rekindled and Linda returned to some client based work in wills and probate. Linda has worked closely with Laura throughout Laura’s training and together they seek to offer a service that is approachable and tailored to the individual’s needs. We value the communities in which we are based and enjoy working with the very different people who form our client base.
We seek to provide a friendly, supportive and knowledgeable approach to our clients in their planning and in dealing with issues following the death of a loved one.
LYNNE GLOVER - FELLOW CHARTERED LEGAL EXECUTIVE
Lynne is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, having qualified in 2005.
Lynne has been part of Maclaren Warner since it first opened its doors for business at the Stapleford office, working for the then senior partner, Stephen Warner. Lynne specialises in residential conveyancing and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work.
Lynne opened the Eastwood branch in 1997 and has established herself as a trusted legal adviser with clients returning again and again. Lynne provides a comprehensive service in respect of all conveyancing transactions of all values. She also provides a service to those seeking equity release from their property.
LAURA WINDSOR - FELLOW CHARTERED LEGAL EXECUTIVE
Laura Windsor, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives, having qualified in February 2020.
Laura studied for her LLB Law Degree at the University of Derby and graduated in 2014.
Laura returned home to Norfolk following graduation and worked within the conveyancing department of a leading firm in that region. Laura returned to the East Midlands and joined Maclaren Warner in October 2016.
Laura has worked both within the conveyancing department and wills and probate whilst undertaking the Graduate Fast Track with the Institute of Chartered Legal Executives. She has completed all exams, and gained a Distinction in Wills and Probate.
Laura brings a sympathetic and friendly approach to an area of law that people may find difficult or distressing. She strives to offer a broad range of advice in will planning to ensure that all eventualities are considered and taken into account and seeks to guide clients to ensure the will represents their wishes.
Laura also deals with Lasting Powers of Attorney, both property and finance and health and welfare; and deputyship applications in the Court of Protection.
Laura is supported in her probate work by her secretary Louise who undertakes some of the administrative tasks. Laura and Louise work hard to progress matters as speedily as the legal process allows and to ensure that executors and beneficiaries are kept informed as the matter proceeds.
Laura’s chocolate Labrador, Ronnie accompanies her to work and provides much needed relief to those in the office – Ronnie is never short of a friendly pat or a walk to the park.
KIRSTY SMITH - TRAINEE LICENSED CONVEYANCER
Kirsty Smith, trainee Licensed Conveyancer
Kirsty has worked in a solicitors’s office since leaving school and in conveyancing particularly since the year 2000.
Kirsty joined Maclaren Warner in October 2018, having previously worked for an established local practise.
At the outset, Kirsty worked alongside Simon at the Ilkeston office establishing herself as a competent conveyancer with a friendly manner which clients like.
In February 2019 Kirsty moved to the Stapleford office to work with the established support team there and to expand her knowledge and experience.
Kirsty is an important part of the conveyancing team, working alongside Simon and Lynne to provide a comprehensive service across the locality. She seeks to provide a supportive approach and particularly takes time with first time buyers for whom the conveyancing transaction can be a fraught and stressful experience.
Kirsty seeks to consolidate and to develop her legal knowledge in her studies to become a Licensed Conveyancer.
